Our June 2025 Trip to Cauca, Colombia

The Cormorant

For centuries, cormorants have guided explorers and merchants across vast, uncharted waters. In ancient maritime cultures, sailors would look to these birds as signs of landfall, hope, and new opportunities.
Their presence signaled unknown lands rich in culture, trade, and possibilities. In European traditions, seabirds like the cormorant were seen as harbingers of success, their flight over open seas marking the path to thriving commerce
At Comorant Coffee, we strive to match that adventurous spirit.
Coffee is more than a commodity, it is a journey, a community connecting different worlds, and we at Comorant are the bridge.
Like the explorers who once sailed uncharted waters, we are driven by curiosity and the thrill of discovery. We forge direct paths between those who cultivate coffee and those who roast it. Every origin is a new frontier, and every crop is a story waiting to be told.
Comorant Coffee is not just about importing coffee, we navigate a global landscape with purpose, charting a course for a more connected, prosperous, and adventurous coffee trade.

ABOUT US

Salem Bellah

Founder

Salem’s career in hospitality began right out of school, drawn to the art of creating community, sparking curiosity, and fostering a sense of belonging—the very essence of true hospitality.
Eager to expand his horizons, he explored real estate, marketing, and an intensive leadership program. He enjoyed every new challenge, but something was missing. Front-line service made momentary impact, but wasn’t building a community. He craved something deeper—a way to create lasting connections and drive meaningful change.
That path led to coffee. More than a beverage, coffee represented an unbounded world of opportunity, a bridge between cultures, and an industry where hospitality could extend beyond a single interaction.
For years, Salem honed his expertise in restaurant management and development, but a bigger vision took shape: connecting people through specialty coffee. Alongside his wife, Susana, he recognized a stark reality—coffee sustains millions, yet too often, the farmers who cultivate it see the least reward.
Now, he’s setting out to change that.
